AURA is a knowledge base authoring system being funded under Project Halo. The AURA team is distributed between SRI International, Boeing, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Texas. I was on the UI design team for the second phase of the AURA project.

The goal of AURA is to create a system for knowledge base authoring by subject matter experts (SMEs) in three science domains with little to no expertise in knowledge engineering, and a minimum of training. AURA allows SMEs to author formal logic axioms indirectly through the creation of graphical concept maps, guided by interactive electronic textbook documents.
